This day is celebrated this year for the first time, and it has the aim to introduce girls with the opportunities for education and work in the field of Information and Communications Technologies. New technologies are constantly changing the world we live in: they are improving the quality of life; increasing the number of the literate people; opening new, so far non-existing, working places; providing numerous challenges and changing our perception of the world.

International Girls in ICT Day in fact, has the aim to make everyone realize that girls are also able to use the new technologies, and that, due to the fact that girls are good at Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, we have new technologies which change the world on a daily basis.
